We gave our 4 year old, 9 year old, and 13 year old children Anti-Coloring Books. The books were equally appealing to, and well used by each child.
Unlike the typical coloring book, Anti-Coloring Books don't ask young artists to confine their crayon strokes within the borders of pre-drawn black lines; instead they allow imaginations to run free with mostly blank pages that ask questions like "What do you think the tooth fairy looks like?" and "Can you change this pair of scissors into something completely different? Turn the paper any way you want to."
Author Susan Striker offers sample pages for you to print out on her website.
I checked and there are a bunch of copies of the books available on half.com.
